Clonmel travelled to Middleton on sunday for a league game in what was only our second game of the season due to bad weather.Middleton won the toss and decided to bat first in very windy conditions and were looking to put up a big score on a very good pitch with a very quick outfield.The home side got off to a good start with their captain Simon Casey and Oliver Ind putting on 22 for the first wicket before Oliver Ind was caught by John Kelly Jnr off Paul Cliffords bowling.Clonmel were bowling very well in the tough conditions and when Jaco Oosthuysen took the wicket of M.Khan for 13 Midleton were 38 for 2.That brought A.levis to the crease and him and S.Casey put on 49 before Clonmel's Captain David Kelly surprised S.Casey with a short ball and he hooked it up in the air and the catch was comfortably taken by John O'Neill to leave Midleton 87 for 3.A.Levis was batting very well and he soon passed his 50.The next wicket to fall was M.Andrade for 0 when Brian Cunningham took a good catch off the bowling of John Kellu Jnr.Not long after M.Andrade's dismissal Clonmel got the vital wicket of A.levis who was bowled for 56 by John Kelly Jnr.That started a small collapse by Midleton who lost another wickets without scoring a run.With Middleton 131 for 7 Clonmel found themselves in a great position to win this game when Paul Clifford bowled T.Turkington for 22.Midleton ended their innings on 162 which was well below par.

With Clonmel needing 163 runs for victory they got off to the worst possible start when they lost their Captain David Kelly for 0 and the vice-Captain Brian Cunningham for 0 in only the second over of the innings.Things got worse for Clonmel when Paul Clifford was next to be dismissed leaving Clonmel 12 for 3 after 6 overs.Fintan Moore and John o' Neill steadied the ship for Clonmel putting on 61 runs before John o' Neill was caught after miss hitting a drive to leave Clonmel 62 for 4.Next in too bat was Jaco Oosthuysen who played a superb innings to score 53 runs with 5 sixes and 3 fours.When Jaco was dismissed Clonmel only needed 10 for victory.Dave o' Callaghan was next out leaving Clonmel 153 for 6 with just 10 runs needed still things were getting nervy but Fintan Moore got Clonmel over the line in what was a magnificent victory.Fintan Moore top scored with 67 and Jaco Oosthuysen scored 53.
Next up for Clonmel is Cork County 4 at the Presentaion Convent this Saturday.
